We were delighted to welcome two ministers to our school today, Mr Jack Chambers and Mr Charlie Mc Conalogue to open our Safe Routes to School Programme for Active Travel.

We are very proud of the fact that we have received 8 Green Flags here in St. Eunan's to date. Recycling is of real importance in our school. We encourage all our pupils to recycle, re use and reduce. Environmental awareness can be seen widely throughout our school and our school grounds. The children take responsibility for their environment and help keep the grounds tidy. Recycling bins including compost bins are located in each classroom and corridors. All children are taught how to use them properly.

 

St Eunan’s Green school committee have a message for you all to recycle all your old clothing for safe collection when we return to school.

Farmer John visiting the infants today to show them all the fresh vegetables that he grows on his farm. The infants are busy growing for the Incredible Edibles and the Green schools.

St. Eunans Green School would like to remind everyone to recycle their plastics and paper this Christmas . The children had fun examining how much packaging versus chocolate is in a selection box. The winner being the packaging !!! Maybe a letter to Cadburys is needed!

2020 St.Eunans N.S. has received it’s  its 8th Green Flag award for Global Citizenship –Marine Environment.

Well done to the Green School Committee for their tireless work every year.

Green Flag Theme for 2020/2022 is Global citizenship Travel.

The children from 4th class produced graphs on causes of air pollution

National Marine Environment Conference in Dun Laoghaire January 30th

Mrs Gallagher’s class plantings trees
Biodiversity: The children plant spring bulbs every October and tend to the school gardens. They harvest the gardens in Sept/Oct weed and leave for the winter. We plant tree seeds in October and celebrate Tree day. We feed the birds every winter and learn about Irish birds. We learn about the bees, butterflies and mini beasts every year and have planted bee bombs in the garden to attract the bees to our school.
6th class gives the Green school a helping hand to decorate our Christmas tree with recycled ornaments for the Festival of Christmas Trees
Senior infants and first class enjoyed their science experiment looking at different types of plastics with Yvonne Lang from Sligo IT
Litter and Spring Clean We have litter wardens who keep the school neat and tidy by picking up litter on a daily basis, this is why the school is so clean and tidy. We participate in the Tidy Towns spring clean every year with the Volt House and the Central National School
St Eunans receives 2 Science workshops for winning Wii Ireland Award for battery recycling
Shoebox appeal fund – Every November the school takes part in this very worthwhile cause to help bring a little happiness to the poorest of the poor children. We get a great response to this every year and the generosity is very well appreciated.
Congratulations to St. Eunan’s N.S. for their donation of 75 boxes for this years Shoebox Appeal Fund. Thanks to everyone for their generosity again this year
A great day at the Green School Workshop on “Life Below the Ocean” yesterday. Thanks to Dermot Farrell for helping out with transport to the event. A great event for the children to attend.
